Over the past few months, we talked quite a bit about the Bond Collection that we launched on Kickstarter. I would now like to start breaking down the other products that we have on our website – specifically the Specter SLGs (Small Leather Goods), starting with our Specter Travel Wallet.
When we started conceptualising products in August last year, I thought about the Travel Wallet that I had been using for the last 6 years and the features that I wished it would have.
The first thing on my design wishlist was something to organise my SIM cards and mobile phone extractor pin. I had previously stuffed these in the coins compartment and it was a real hassle to “dig” them out. Hence, we developed the SIM/SD card sleeves that fit in a shallow pocket with a translucent window for easy access.
The next thing was a compartment to fit my mobile phone and/or a slim wallet. Consequently, we developed the back pocket for this purpose.
Some of the other features:
- 1 L-slip pocket - for boarding pass
- Zip pocket – for coins
- 1 Pen holder
- Gusseted notes compartments - to separate different currencies
- Front slip handle
- 6 Card slots - driver's license, foreign transport passes, frequent flyer cards, ID cards, credit cards for overseas use, insurance card, bank/ATM cards
We offer this product in 2 leather options: vegetable tanned US Top grain cowhide and cross grain embossed US Top grain cowhide. The interior is pure Nappa cowhide in our signature burgundy (we spared no expense, especially since it would not increase the overall weight by much). The zip around the closure is secured with a magnetic snap puller so it doesn’t dangle. To me, that makes the product look more sleek.
I have personally been using this product for the past few months and I consider it a true travel essential. Feel free to contribute ideas/features that you would like to see and we may include them in the next version of the Specter Travel Wallet. Till then, I do hope you’ll enjoy the product as much as I do.
